Mosaic Monday

mosaic monday

hello, a happy Monday to you - and thanks always to my Flickr contacts for their inspiring images.... Please follow the links to discover more....

It's a rather overcast start to the week here with the promise of mixed weather ahead - yes, as you might expect! I've enjoyed seeing a little robin in our front garden this morning - each time I look up from my packaging things there he is, almost but not looking back.

Many thanks to everyone who has visited my shop recently and special thanks to you if you have purchased a copy of my new little book 'You May Need To Disappear'. The book has been selling very well and I'll be spending the next few days sending out copies. I hope to have all copies sent asap and I hope you will enjoy reading the poems and seeing the enclosed artwork.

So this week I am busy sending out - but will I hope to have time to create just a few new pieces for my shop update, scheduled for Friday. If time allows I will preview here.

My daughter is currently sitting GCSE exams over the next month. She will be on study leave from school soon - this is her final week of actual school lessons. Good luck to everyone who is sitting exams over the summer. This is a special time and there's a lot of work  - but a lot to look forward to.

Thanks always and have a good week.

giveaway winners & new paintings

Thanks to everyone who left a comment to enter my giveaway. I wrote each name on a slip of paper - and there were over seventy of you - thanks! I put slips of paper into a big bowl, turned my back and picked a name with my left hand and a name with my right. So the two people who are receiving a copy of 'You May Need To Disappear' are Velma B. and Mrs Bertimus. A nice thing, totally by chance - one of you lives in the UK and one of you does not! It so often works out that way, which is nice.

If you were hoping for a copy but sadly did not win - you know what I am going to say don't you - well, yes, there will be copies in my shop from this afternoon. This is a limited edition of 100.

I'll be updating my shop from about 2pm today. My update includes new embroidery and paintings. Another painting in my botanical series is 'a tangle of wildflowers'"

You may have also spotted another new series in my shop - that is a series of tiny portraits.... these are indeed tiny figures - the paper size is just 10cm x 7cm. Below is no. 10 herself.

new embroidery brooches - preview

Gentle in green - an embroidery brooch..... the central figure here wears a dress with elaborate yet subtle green botanical-inspired design. She is attended by little dreaming figures. There is an outer border of pale blue and white.

bluebell dreamer - I'm seeing bluebells suddenly in people's front gardens - it is lovely to see such a woodland flower pop up in suburbia! So, inspired, I stitched this portrait of a dreaming woman with her ornate gown of blue and pale green. She too is attended by several dreaming figures and faces.

a 'classic' scarlet red piece - forever - is a bold portrait of a slightly mysterious perhaps dreamer woman with tiny-tiny faces on her dress.... Yes, I am inspired by the time of year but I am also mindful that it is not spring everywhere in the world. To me red is a colour for all year round. I like it especially in the winter months but a hint of scarlet red worn on a jacket in the summer is rather lovely - or displayed in a frame on a neutral wall. However you like to display these pieces, I hope you enjoy.

They will be in my shop tomorrow. Possibly one other brooch may appear. And of course I will have my new little book 'You May Need To Disappear' in the shop - and a small selection of paintings.

Tomorrow morning I will be choosing at random two names for my giveaway - there's still time right now to enter (see previous post), to win a copy of my new little book plus extras.

Thanks always.
